Hi guys,

Newbie here from Glasgow.

Just joined up as in the last 4/5 months I got an Acer Aspire 5749 from my local Tesco.

Since I got it though when I ask it to shut down when I've finished using it it goes through the process as normal, blank screen but the power light remains on, its really annoying because I end up having to press and hold the power button every time to make sure it switches off completely. Me being a computer novice even I know that's not right.

I didn't contact Tesco at the time beacause basically compared to my previous one this laptop is like night and day compared to it but for this small problem.

Please help.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to ExTS

I think this may be a Power Options setting.

Start > Control Panel > Power Options

Take a look here to see if the computer is set to go into sleep mode instead of shutting down.

Try taking the battery out and shutting down normally.

If the power light is still on press and hold the off switch for 30 seconds.

Re-install the battery - reboot.

Try again.
