sound problem

Hi all ok 1st i am a complete noob here so treat me gental...okies i have a HP pc about 8 years old recently after i moved the sound on my pc has been fuzzy with a sorta buzzy noice, ok i finks new sound card as it was inbuilt sound, so off i went, new sound card, installed..easy me thinks..installed a creative sound blaster one.installed all drivers etc that came with it rebooted and... sound is the same any ideas please... the realtek i have dissabled.. i have tryed my speakers in my bros pc and there sounding fine.. so what have i or havent i done right plz.. i hope this makes sence to anyone..lol ohh i did check all my speaker wires to make sure they werent touching etc to..please help me i miss my music lol ty x :confused:

Have you checked everything in device manager as well? if not let us know if there are any red or yellow marks next to any entry.

 

Considering you have already checked everything else I could suggest, and installed a new sound card, I think hardware is possibly out of the question now, so we may need to look at the source of the sound as in what does it consist of, sound and music files stored on the computer, or sound direct from a CD or DVD?

 

Also sounds from a microphone if you have one. If only sounds as in stored music files, they may have become corrupted, but if the problem is there with sound from a CD or DVD, we will have to look further.

 

Edit to add,

Where you have moved to, what type of mains connection are you using, please check that the earth connection is good, as a bad earth will possibly allow mains hum into the system.

ahh i replyed but it vannished lol hope i am not doubling this now...ok ty for reply.... right device manager has no red or yellow marks at all, the playback noise is from the music itself not a background noise if that makes sence its not a hum its a music buzzing a bit like trying to listen to music inside a tin can it sorta is echoy and buzzy n tinny all at the same time ( that prob dont make any sense lol) ... files i have stored on a spare hard drive but also does the same on net play back eg youtube vids and also cd's. the power supply is the one that came with the sound system which is creative surround sound , its as old as the pc but as i say it works perfect on my bros pc...i have checked all speakers as well. i moved the pc from one end of my room to another and this started, but i have tryed to move it since and its still doing the same..i have had a sim sorta noise b4 when the speaker wires were touching but this isnt the case this time. also i noticed the sound sometimes seems to slow down or speed up on net playback. I tryed diff playback devices eg VLC and BMP studio same result i tryed to change the sound eg room, hall, theater all still have the same playback noise..any other ideas please it driving me nuts..ohh all drivers are up to date fr the new sound card..i did try roll back but both drivers seem to have same effect as does the old realtek sound.

Hi again, if all the move was just across the room, any slight knock or bump, even just putting it down again may have loosened a connection inside which may be what is causing the problem.

The best and in fact the only real way to sort that one out is to disconnect from the mains, remove the cover, then one connection at a time, fully remove it, then replace it, Some may have locking tabs, be careful to spring them apart so the connection can come off.

 

The computer being as you say eight years old, there is a very good chance of connection pins being a bit dirty, so removing and replacing them is usually enough to get a clean contact again.

 

I once had a strange sound problem that turned out to be the connection plug and socket for the hard drive, on the motherboard end of the cable, pulling it off and replacing it cured the fault.

okies done all that, clean, checked, also i removed all cards etc from inside the pc base unit and cleaned all the inside of the unit (dusty) as well as all the connections i have given a rub up slightly and cleaned all fans of dust etc still same sound problem...however i have notice this.. when i am not on net eg using web pages the sound is fine.. as soon as i open a web page the sound crackles n buzzes.. now one other thing i have noticed is on my graphix card the fan is starting to make a racket.. are the 2 connected do you think is my unit maybe getting overheated etc...or is this just wishfull thinking..

Hi, it's getting complicated isn't it?

OK, the graphics card fan being noisy could be the bearings on the fan, that means a replacement fan if that is possible to do with your card.

Also, it could just be the card starting to fail as opening a web page will be making the card do a bit of work, not much mind but more than just idling along, that in turn could be the source of the noisy sound system, but I am afraid that is only guessing. A replacement card, or remove it and go back to the on board graphics if the motherboard has it, would prove it one way or the other.

thanks i am going to order a new graphic card anyway, the pc came with the card so not sure if MB has on board graphics lol... i will give that a go as everything else has been tryed n ruled out so far..thanks for your help ..ps complicated is my middle name lol will let you know as and when the pc either works as should or blows up lmao again ty
