Hi,

I have an Acer Aspire V3-571 and have all of a sudden not been able to play dvd's. When I went into the Device Management I got the following

"hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

Can anyone help me? Or help me find the correct driver on the Acer website so I could try re installing it?

Thanks

Hi and welcome to ExTS

Go back to Device Manager > click the + next to DVD CDROM

Right click on the device > uninstall.

Re-boot the machine.

Windows will locate new hardware and install the drivers for it.

Hi,

Not looking good.

Did Windows actually see the DVD Drive as new hardware ?

Try this:

Delete the Upper and Lower Filters from the registry.

I prefer to do this manually -but if you are not comfortable doing that there is a FixIt that should do it for you.

Just to be on the safe side create a restore point.

Start > type in ....system restore ....Enter

Follow the prompts to create a restore point.
