hmm. I could do the run as administrator on safe mode, and it said it found and solved some problems, but when I rebooted back on to normal mode, the problem persisted.

Not done yet.

 

Go back to the Command Prompt and type ......... chkdsk /f ......ENTER ( space after chkdsk )

This will check the integrity of the drive and attempt to fix any errors.

 

Check the system again.

 

Run sfc /scannow again if necessary.

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!

System File Scan should have repaired Explorer - if in fact Explorer is the problem.

Download ShellExView and install.

Sort the Shell Extensions by Type - this will save you time.

You are working - initially - with non-Microsoft stuff.

Use method 2

 

I am not on my Vista machine at the moment but will d/l this to it if you have any problems.
