Wilks Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Hey, got a new computer right before Christmas installed my own SSD of 128gb, changed the bios to boot from the SSD and installed windows 8, this has all worked fine until two days ago. I get a weird issue where the pixels and colors of my screen go all funny, will try add a picture. I have not installed any new games or any major programmes and its just started acting up, and after i exit the game the problem persist with my desk top. I have attached the screen i get when i was playing League of Legends, not a particularly demanding game. Any help will be appreciated thanks. Computer Spec: [h=1]4.4GHz AMD FX 4170 QUAD CORE BULLDOZER CPU, 2GB ATI RADEON HD 6670 Graphics Card HDMI, VGA, DVI, 1TB HDD Hard Drive, 8GB DDR3 RAM, USB 3.0...... there is also a weird issue that i cant seem to access my disk drive but that may be due to me struggling with windows 8 :)[/h] Many Thanks Sam Quote
KenB Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Hi Welcome to ExTS i cant seem to access my disk drive Click the Libraries icon ( bottom left of screen ) > then click Computer ( left side ) The DVD Drive should show there. the pixels and colors of my screen go all funny, If you move the cable to the monitor around - does the problem get any better / worse ? and after i exit the game the problem persist Does it continue if you re-boot ? Do you have on-board video that you could try ? You would need to take the video card out. Wilks Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 Thanks for the welcome, I sorted that issue out but i had to move the cable into another socket on the board for it to register it, which i thought was weird. I have tried moving the cable around a bit, at first it seemed to change, but then when i switched cables and then tried it on VGA cable instead of DVI the problem persisted and i saw no change. I also have rebooted, and it anything the issue seems to be getting worse, it now is there whether i play a game or not, its not too bad on the main screens just a few misplaced pixels and randomly for a millisecond it become like when i am playing a game. I uninstalled the graphics card and used the on board one and it worked fine but i cant use my computer with only the on board one, that is why i believe its a graphic card issue. Thanks for all your help. Quote
KenB Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 i had to move the cable into another socket on the board for it to register it Was this a move from the video card itself to the on-board video socket ? I uninstalled the graphics card and used the on board one and it worked fine As you say - it looks like a problem with your Video Card. If it is working OK with on-board graphics and the card is giving a problem I suggest that you take the card to a small one-man pc repair shop and ask them to test it for you. Phone first and ask if they can do it and how much it will cost. Alternatively - if you have a different video card give this a try. Wilks Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 Sorry i was referring to the DVD Drive, i had to move the data cable to another socket on the motherboard. Okay thanks i guess i will have to do that, i was looking to update my video card i may just do it sooner than later. Many thanks for all your help. Quote
KenB Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Let us know how you get on. It may be worthwhile getting the card checked out as it is possible that the PCIe x 16 slot is the problem.
