[Solved] 2tb hard drive installed but only showing 300gb in my computer?

I have built a computer over the christmas holdiays and i have a 2tb western digital hard drive installed into my custom pc. I partitioned it to 300gb for windows 7 and 1.7tb. When im on the computer it only shows that i have 300gb C drive, im wondering where the 1.7tb is which is not showing.

Click on "Start"

Right click "Computer"

Click "Manage"

Double click "Storage" and "Disk Management"

On the bottom half of the screen you should see your local drives

 

You should find your 1.7TB marked as "unallocated" , right click and "new simple volume".

A wizard should then pop up and it will guide you through setting it up. Just to note that when the drive letter shows up you should use one that isn't being used, so G.

Does it need formatting?

 

Hi i followed your instructions but it says my 1.7gb is a primary partion and when i try open it in disk management it says it needs to be formatted. Is that my problem? I have an image of disk management below. Thanks for the welcoming :)[ATTACH=CONFIG]1823[/ATTACH]

As I can see that you are on-line at the moment .....

 

The partition is RAW - i.e. it has no File System.

Right click on it and select "Format"

 

Use the NTFS option when prompted.

Ok thanks i will try this after my diablo 3 has finished updating, dont want to distrupt anything. It should be around 3 mins so i will get back to you shortly on how it went.
