Today I got a message saying Messenger is to be dropped - but I use Messenger to help my elderly parents keep their PC updated etc using the remote accesss option. Now I have been told to use Skype instead but it does not have that facility. Is there another way I can access my parents PC and control it for them remotely - its a bit too far to travel to see them every time they have an issue and the remote access factility has been a real boon. Help!!!

I've only tried doing remote desktop once before, from my mobile phone to my PC. So I don't have much experience with it.

Perhaps this may help you out a little?

Someone else may have better knowledge and experience with this.

Hi the one I use a hell of a lot is Teamviewer , I find it quicker that MSN's remote assistance software , you'd need it both yours and your parents pc

You ae right - its pretty brilliant - never heard of it before but tried it last night between two of my own PCs - does exactly what I want. Now to get it installed on my parents PC so they can become viable to me - is having it installed better than simply accessing the link? I dont want to confuse them and so wish to keep it as simple as possible.

Yeah I'd install it saves having to run it via browser every time
