ludo001 Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 Hi Synapse and Armageddon, thank you for your interest. Synapse - good idea! Now it looks like this: folders appeared not after ticking show hidden , but only after unticking Hide protected files of OS. So it looks like system considers the folders as part of OS? Now is there some possibility to change them to "normal folders"? If not, it seems that I can at least to copy them somewhere else. Quote
KenB Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Hi, At least you can now see your files :) Now is there some possibility to change them to "normal folders"? I think so. Go back and tick " Hide protected files of OS" ( there may be a "Reset to Defaults" ....I am not on Win7 at the moment ) Click Start > type in .....cmd .....right click on cmd.exe that appears top left > click on Run as Administrator At the prompt type ... F: ...............then hit ENTER You should see F:\> ........ F: is the drive letter that is showing in your picture for the external drive. Check this first. Then type ..... ATTRIB -s -h *.* /s /d There is a space between each Explanation: ATTRIB allows us to change the properties of a file or folder s refers to a system file h refers to a hidden file -h will remove the attribute from that file /s processes files /d processes folders Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! ludo001 Posted January 22, 2013 Author Posted January 22, 2013 So I rather moved files elsewhere, formatted HDD and then copied them back. Now everything seems to be all right and problem solved. Thank to all of you for help! Quote
