slab288 Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 (edited) Hello guys, CMSO4GX3M1A1333C9 this code is for a Corsair 4gb RAM memory card, the question is.......is it Mac specific or does it also work with Windows systems? The reason I ask is there appears to be conflicting opinions on the net, I have also just bought them. Cheers slab288 Edited January 19, 2013 by slab288 Quote
Plastic Nev Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Hi, not too sure where the Mac idea comes from, but as a direct result from Corsair themselves, they say it is guaranteed to work on Intel or AMD, that to me means any operating systems, Windows, Mac, Linux or any other, shouldn't make any difference. Have a look at their own specifications for it here= http://www.corsair.com/en/corsair-memory-4gb-ddr3-sodimm-memory-cmso4gx3m1a1333c9.html Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? KenB Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Hi From the specs I read this would work OK in a PC. Is this what you have? I am not a Mac user - but I am fairly sure that RAM is compatible in both PCs and MACs. EDIT - beat me to it Nev :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test
slab288 Posted January 19, 2013 Author Posted January 19, 2013 Nev the Mac thing comes from it being suggested that Corsair memory for the Mac has a code starting with a "C" and Windows memory has a code starting with a "V".........been looking for the sites that mentioned it, I've looked at sooooo many my heads bursting and can't find it mentioned anywhere now, typical eh LOL!!............sooooo when all else fails I just pop along and ask those in the know, as you do eh!! Thanks again gents it's much appreciated, another one SOLVED :) slab288 Quote
KenB Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 another one SOLVED I assume that the RAM is in and working ? Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test
slab288 Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 I assume that the RAM is in and working ? Not yet but it is new so I'm expecting it to work, if not that will be the next thread.........sure it will be fine though. slab288 Quote
Synapse Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 It is not Mac specific, value memory will never be. Works with Windows just fine :) Quote
slab288 Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 I assume that the RAM is in and working ? Well, I have just installed the new Corsair 8gb (2 x 4gb) RAM and run the Crucial Scan again at the minute it is only seeing 4gb, I assume that is because one of them has not been pushed all the way home yes? slab288 Quote
slab288 Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 Hi guys..........forget the previous post it does appear that it was simply one of the cards was not fully pushed home, have rectified same and we now have 8gb as seen by the Crucial Scanner, so all is good and looking good aswell :p Thanks again slab288 PS I would have simply edited the previos post but I wasn't given the option.
