hi,

 

ive been given an old dell optiplex 170l computer with windows xp sp2, 1gb ram and an 80gb hdd

 

its all bunged up with old files. just wondering if i can restore it to its former glory as in a clean xp install but without the disk as i dont have one?

or will i be able to run win 7 pro or vista on it?

 

just want it to be usuable really.

 

id be grateful for any advice. thankyou

Hello Kaos

 

 

After a quick look on the internet it looks like that machine was supplied with the CDS and they isnt a Recovery partition on that machine.

 

We will need a bit more information to know if your machine will run Vista or Windows 7

 

Please Click

 

Start>All programs> Accessories> system tools> system information.

 

 

Please let us know the information about the CPU.

 

 

After a quick look on the internet i think its only got a 800MHz processor so it would only support XP
