End User has forgoten their old password hence can't logon to the laptop.

So end user resets password whilst on the VPN ...after a minute they re-start the laptop.

 

The laptop and network are now out of sync as he has not given enough time for replication to occur.

 

I was able to get the end user to logon with local admin account. I was then able to reset their password in AD Manager.

 

They could then change their password via our VPN https portal, they could then connect to the VPN with their domain credentials. ( Whist loged on with the local admin account).They then tried to swtich user and logon with their current password. He said it told him the password was wrong. All I can think was that I told him to user the user name firstname.lastname@ourdomain .com, I suspect he would usually just use firstname.lastname

 

 

Normally if we rest a remote users password and they know their old password, windows 10 will say"please lock the screen login with my most current password". At which point the cahced password gets synced with the new domain password.

 

Obvious that wont happen in my senairo. What is the best fix? logon as firstname.lasname?
