It's peculiar but when on youtube the keyboard appears to be VERY hit & miss that is to say I often have to hit an individual key 5 or 6 times before the digit appears in the address bar and this only happens when on youtube and affects all keys but not when doing anything else such as when in word or on here only youtube.........very strange or is there an answer?

PS I'm not on youtube a lot so it's mainly the curiousity factor rather my looking at it as a problem.

Hi, which computer is this happening on, make model etc please.

If it doesn't have much in the way of RAM, or a slow processor, it may be the playing of the Youtube video is hogging resources, so it then has to wait till something is free enough to allow whatever key command you put in.

If you have other video such as a DVD, or one stored on the hard drive, do you see similar symptoms when playing one of them?

Try a look in Task Manager, if W7 a quick way is open the "Run command window with the Windows flag key and the letter "R" together, copy and paste -

taskmgr

into the Open bar and click OK, once it opens click the Performance tab, then while running a Youtube video check both the CPU graph and the memory graph, if both or either show high usage, there is the reason for wayward responses to key strokes.

Hum, the CPU is 2.3Ghz, plus the 8GB RAM, kind of blows a big hole in my first assumption, the computer should handle any video including Youtube without any problem.

Have you had a look at the performance in Task manager yet?

If it does show high usage of processor or RAM, we will need to look elsewhere for something hogging resources,

While you have the task manager window open click the processes tab, look down the list, any large numbers above say 500,000 there under memory, while running a youtube video? (If using Firefox, I expect to see around 200,000 for that if the computer has been on for a while)

Let us know what you find please and we can take it from there.

Hi Nev,

Just had a look at Task Manager, been busy with grandchildren which is why the delay............. and with a YouTube video running and this window open the maximum reading was just under 160,000 with a couple showing 50,000 and one or two arounf the 14 to 16k mark, everything else is around the 1k mark.

Although, I have just started the video again and also opened a word document and it's now sitting at 171,000 and rising.

That doesn't look too bad for memory use so I doubt that is the issue now.

There are so many different things worth looking into now, it could be malware of some sort so a scan with anti-virus and Malwarebytes would be a good idea.

next is the possibility of a fault with the Youtube player which uses Adobe Flash player, find it in Programs and uninstall, then download and install a fresh version from Adobe.

A paging file or lack of enough paging file space may be involved as well.

Need any help in the above let us know.

Hi just the Adobe Flash player, it should be version 11,5,502,146 , if not a removal and re-install will give you that version any way.

Once you have removed it, here is the address to download the new version=

http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

I just hope it is just a corrupted version you have that is causing your problem as I am running out of idea's. :D

Hi glad that sorted it, a strange thing where sometimes an application can still work but have a glitch or small amount of corruption that messes with something else. Quite often caused by installing something not even connected to it, but with badly written code, which can alter some other code already on the system.
