KenB Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Hi From your Mini-Dump file the problem seems to be with ....ksecdd.sys This is a Kernal Security File and is an integral part of MS System Uninstall the Canon Drivers. Do not re-install yet. Try the attachment / uploading again. If you are still getting the error .. do a System Restore to a date just prior to your problem starting. Start > type in System Restore. There is a box to check for dates older than 5 days. We will run a scan on the System Files if this doesn't resolve it. Also removed all MP drivers (Printer MP499)also removed printer.Attempted attachment and file upload.Did NOT get BSOD but PC instantly shut down this time to black screen with F1 set up and F12..Pc restarted quite easily from "Start windows normally" or enter "safe mode" screen. Reinstalled printer andd printer software updated printer drivers...instantly back to BSOD on attempting attachments etc... Apologies should have included that with "actions taken".....if you can help me with this one it would be greatly appreciated as its got to the point now where it is doig my head in.....Thanks Quote :pDont try to weather the storm, learn to dance in the rain instead!
KenB Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Download Revo Uninstaller from here: click here Scroll down a little - you want the free version. Install and run it. Locate the Canon Drivers (if they show) and uninstall using the default options. Failing that un-install the Canon drivers from device manager. ============== Start > type in .....cmd ...........right click on the cmd.exe that shows top left > Run as Administrator At the prompt type : sfc /scannow There is a space after sfc. This will scan the system files and attempt to make corrections if errors are found. You can run this a couple of times as it sometimes picks up errors on the second scan that it missed on the first. Hi KenB..Have free revo uninstaller installed....unable to find any drivers present in Revo, only associated software, such photo print etc? Was also Unable to find printer or drivers in device manager????? Eventually did a search for "MP drivers "which came up and deleted from there? Deleted printer from printers and devices? Since then as stated I have reinstalled printer and updated printer with no improvement. Before I go any further with CMD can you advise me if I have gone about it the correct way,as this is a bit out of my league?? If not would you be good enough to give schoolboy instructions for removing drivers from device manager as well as printer..as obviously to complete your advice I need to know I have done the removal correctly(which still needs to be done)..thank you Quote :pDont try to weather the storm, learn to dance in the rain instead!

KenB Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Since then as stated I have reinstalled printer and updated printer with no improvement. I wanted to try the system with no printer drivers installed to see if they were causing the problem. instructions for removing drivers Sorry I don't know what I was thinking before - Printers don't show in Device Manager  Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features It should be listed there. Hi Ken..Did reply to your last advice but reply does not appear to ahve been recognsed I have removed all drivers, plus hardware, carried out scan as requested, same result came back no problems. However since doing that things have become worse.....I am having to send this in safe mode as PC stabilses then goes into BSOD crash without any reason or action on my part, then restarts a few minutes later quire normally again with no action on my part, only to crash again and restart the sequence...HELP please> Or would you rather leave until tomorrow as we have been at this all day and I am very close to do a factory reset recovery!! KenB Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Or would you rather leave until tomorrow I am quite happy to continue - if you are ? You can boot up in Safe Mode and it is stable - no errors - no restarts - no crashes ? Please confirm. If this is the case it could either be a service or more likely a driver conflict. Please confirm and we can take it from here. Also confirm that it is Win 7 that you have. ============== Please post the latest Mini-dump file. caskin Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 (edited) Good Afternoon KenB....Im back in the chair again....as stated system now worse since removal of all printer software, and printer.Prior to removal PC was stable as long as I stayed away from attachments or file uploads, but now after 3 minutess PC crashes with BSOD to black screen with F1 and F12,if restarted normally again without any intervention from me it will crash after 3 minutes, only way to operate is as now in safe mode!! Very tempted to carry out manufacturers recovery back to factory settings, but if I do that will installing this canon printer cause problem all over again? Have always used Canon printers, just do not understand why this one has messed up a perfectly runnign PC?? KenB Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Hi Very tempted to carry out manufacturers recovery back to factory settings This should be a last resort :) will installing this canon printer cause problem all over again? If you are installing the correct driver it shouldn't. Your system is 64bit - did you install the 64 bit driver ? If you use F8 again .... There should be an option "Repair your Computer" Have you tried this? Again - I will be online - even if my on-line status doesn't show green :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! caskin Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 (edited) Hi KenB...There was only one disc with the printer no option to chose 32 or 64 bit,but did go to Canon site and download updated driver for win7 64 bit so that should have taken care of it?? Yes have run all the inbuilt repair programmes, unfortunately many of them state repair if necessary not possible in "Safe Mode" which makes life difficut as unable to run in normal mode for longer than 3 minutes...this as I said began the minute I removed all printer software/drivers/hardware. Totally agree starting from scratch shoud be last option have had to do it in the past on Me and XP and it was a real pain in the harddrive!! If its of any help, besides in built recovery back to manufacturers setting,I also have 3 recovery discs plus one containing all Apps and drivers....have no idea how to use it,but would it help if certain drivers were reinstalled....such as chipset?? KenB Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 drivers were reinstalled....such as chipset?? What does it say on the disk with "Apps and Drivers" ? I am going to check out the next bit on my win 7 machine ( on Win 8 at the moment ) Will be back soon :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! caskin Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 On the disc itself ,it just states Apps and drivers for Acer, its one you make up on the inital power up of the pC along with 3 recovery discs. On placing it in PC and opening it contains all manner of drivers, chipset, realtek etc... Quote :pDont try to weather the storm, learn to dance in the rain instead!
KenB Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Hi - sorry for the delay ....... I had a problem after I messed with Services .....so will avoid that :) Try this ... Boot up > Start > type in ....msconfig ....ENTER Put a check next to Diagnostic Startup > OK This will load essential drivers and services ...... but more than Safe Mode. You will need a re-start. Is the system stable if you boot up Normally? Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! caskin Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 Hi Ken I am about to do as you request.PC will start normally but is NOT stable..shuts down within 2/3 minutes ,I can then start in safe mode or normal mode, but in normal once again after 2 mins it shuts down,so is now worse then when first reported....I could do with getting it stable before I worry about printer? But Im off now to carry out your advice Quote :pDont try to weather the storm, learn to dance in the rain instead!
caskin Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 Hi - sorry for the delay ....... I had a problem after I messed with Services .....so will avoid that :) Try this ... Boot up > Start > type in ....msconfig ....ENTER Put a check next to Diagnostic Startup > OK Hi Ken Right on doing as you requested I had no internet connection so could not get back to you??? Attempted a restart in the hope of going back into safe mode, but PC started normally and stabilsed?? On checking via msconfig I found PC was now in selective start up?? Do not understand any of this (how could pC put itself into selective mode?),but PC is stable in normal mode.although many of the operations will not work such as files back up (thought I would do that in case I have to go through recovery...but not working??) But at least you have me slightly normal!!!! (my wife woud not necessarily agree with that!!!JOke) Quote :pDont try to weather the storm, learn to dance in the rain instead!
KenB Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I had no internet connection so could not get back to you??? If this was a wireless connection you probably wouldn't have a connection. On checking via msconfig I found PC was now in selective start up?? That happened with me too ?? although many of the operations will not work This is not good If you have not put the msconfig setting back to Normal Startup by putting a check in the box and clicking OK your machine is still in diagnostic startup. This may explain why some of the features are not working. If you are in Normal Mode and stable ( ish ) ....... Try running sfc /scannow again. We are getting close to a re-install :( Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test
caskin Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 Hi Ken about to do scan...Have managed in selective mode to back up files...the only major problem is antivirus will not load, even though I tick it in selective start and services ,its dropped immediately on restart, even a download of my anti virus AVAST would not operate in selective mode. So although PC is stable in selective I have no antivirus,,,,right will do scan and get back cheers Quote :pDont try to weather the storm, learn to dance in the rain instead!
