caskin Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 Sorry Ken didint see that,I am in selctive mode at the moment as in diagnostic I had no interent connection.....So went into selective ,Ive just done scan in selctive with no problems.I will now attempt via msconfig to start in normall but I reckon it will crash within minutes..anyway here goes..Oh and by the way thanks for sticking with me. As I thought within minutes of starting normal system craashed so now back in safe mode!!! If I have to do a reinstall I have two options, 1.There is a recovery system built into PC which takes PC back to original manufacturers settings etc, 2. I have 3 recovery discs made at original start up....would these be cleaner do you think??? If I do a reinstall will reinstalling the printer afterwards cause the same problems all over..although I do not know why it should as I have always run canon Pixma printers the last one being the IP3000,that was supeceded by the one we think is giving all the problems the Canon Pixma MP499?? Right Ken this I believe is the final answer to your request and I guess my final question??Can you give your opion on which way to go..as it appears system is going to remain unstable unless reinstalled????? I have 3 recovery discs made at original start up....would these be cleaner do you think??? I suspect the both options will revert your system to the way it was when first shipped. ( including bloatware ) You may wish to take a look here: click here This is a legal free download. If you have Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit you can burn the ISO to DVD and use this. You will need the 25 character Product Key off the label. It MUST be exactly the same OS that you have installed otherwise it will not validate. If there are problems I would revert to your disks. You need to make sure that the CDROM is first in the boot order in the BIOS. Do you know how to do this ? You will - of course - lose all that is on the drive. caskin Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 I have three discs taken off the PC as advsied at start..I assume I just start with disc one then 2 etc and reinstall.....or if I use the in built recovery it will do it in correct order?? Never realised there was any order to reinstall?? I know nothing about the bios,I assummed that would be done automatically by recovery discs? This is to force it to look at the CDROM first before the hard drive.. If you elect to use the recovery partition it should just take you through the re-install step by step. Go for this. KenB Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Yep - no altering the BIOS for the recovery partition. It should lead you through the process and take your system back to the way it was when you first bought it. Make sure it is stable before you do anything else. You will need to go through all of the critical updates from Microsoft to bring the system up-to-date. I would be inclined to do this manually a handful at a time as I see so many system crashes when the whole lot are attempting to install at the same time. Don't connect to the internet until you have set the updates option to Manual. You will have the pre-installed AV and other rubbish which you will need to remove. Install either Essentials / Avira / Avast ( just one ) You may need to install the LAN / WiFi drivers from the disk that you have to get internet access.
