New member from Kent

Hi everyone, I would like to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about me. My name is Ian and I'm a 55 year old married man. My hobbies are computing (when my pc is working properly) air rifle shooting, reading, diy, music and cooking. I am a contributing member on several air gun forums and I'm looking to become an active member here too. In fact I have considered buying the components to construct my own pc, but have always wimped out and purchased "off the shelf" so to speak. Maybe I will have the courage to put together my next pc, who knows?

 

I have already posted a thread on the forum regarding a problem I'm having accessing 1 of my favourite websites. I already have had a request for more informationn the query, which I have supplied. I thought now that I had some time to myself that I would introduce myself properly. Over the coming days I will be fully exploring the forum and then asking questions of you. I will do my best to read about my particular interest before posting a question that may have been asked previously.

Hi Ian and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help.

As far as building a machine of your own we can help as much as you need, but bear in mind there is a tremendous amount of choice out there as to what parts will do what, with the only proviso that the more expensive, then the more likely it is to be faster, or more able to cover your needs.

 

General advice is to first consider what you want the new computer to do, then look around the various suppliers and manufacturers for the parts that can at least cover your needs for the price you can afford.

Otherwise do look round, you may find all the information you need in questions asked and answers given to others, however if something is hard to understand or different to what you want, do ask, we can normally answer.
