doesnothaveaclue Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Every time I open my Laptop, about 7-8 Internet Explorer pages open and and almost freeze my computer until I can manage to delete them. Although this is a reasonably new laptop Internet Explorer does not work. So I just use Opera or Firefox. Just wondering how to delete as I cannot find it in the add/remove programs section. Thanks for help in advance! P.S did post this in software issues before noticing Web Browsers! Sorry Quote
Starbuck Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Hi doesnothaveaclue and welcome to FPCH. P.S did post this in software issues before noticing Web Browsers! Sorry No problem, it's just learning your way around the site. I've removed the other thread. This should explain how to remove IE.... if you really want to. (or just don't use IE) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957700 Quote Member of:UNITE
doesnothaveaclue Posted February 18, 2013 Author Posted February 18, 2013 Thank you for the speedy reply! I just tried to remove Internet explorer using those instructions only to be told I do not have permission, should I be worried? I am the only user and the only profile? Thanks again for the reply Quote
Starbuck Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Hi again doesnothaveaclue Are you sure that you are logging in to a 'Administrator' type account? You will need full Admin rights to remove IE. Did you set up the Pc? ...... can you remember if you set a full Admin account for yourself. With only one user it should be an Admin account..... but some people for security reasons run a 'limited' account. Quote Member of:UNITE
doesnothaveaclue Posted February 19, 2013 Author Posted February 19, 2013 I am the only user of this computer and there is only one account. I do not think I would choose to run a limited account as this is the first I have really heard of this type of account. I'll just learn to live with it! Annoying as it might be, I only really use the computer to gather information and play the occasional game of Age of Empires 2. But thanks for taking the time to help! Quote
