Hi

I have removed your link to the other forum. Posting on multiple forums is just a waste of our time. If you would like us to help you then kindly ask the other forum to close that thread so they dont waste their time either.

Look in device manager, is there any yellow exclamation marks or red crosses?

What is the make and model of the wireless card?

Sorry I realise what you mean now, I must have put the same question on 2 forums on this site by mistake

Hi, although rare, obtaining advice from more than one forum can lead to conflicting advice which may result in damage.

The main thing though is advisor's will quite often all come up with similar advice, meaning that we as volunteers on all forums, at least one of us if not more, will have wasted time which could be better used to help someone else. Our time is limited by other factors such as wage earning work or family as we are all volunteers in this business, lending our knowledge and experience to those needing it.

However, if gaining no useful help on one forum, then OK come here and let us know what help has been offered, and why it was no good, that is a different matter.

OK, now to your last question, a click on the small arrow to the left of the network controller will open a box which should tell us what make it is.

If not a small program called speccy will list all your hardware and should also give you the make.

You can download the free version from here=

Thanks for the help so far, I take your point and will only try one forum at a time in future, I am now looking at Speccy but cant find network controller listed, would it be called something else, under wi-fi info it just says wi-fi not enabled??

Could you try pressing ALT + F3. This should enable the Wi-Fi if it is disabled.

Can you let us know if you get 'any' messages on screen when you do this. We don't want to turn if off if it was already enabled, as it does need to be on.

Just narrowing down a possibility, as some drivers don't fully install if the Wi-Fi is disabled.

Hi, thanks for the help, I have tried alt + fF3 but nothing appears to happen, dowloaded and installed chipset and wireless lan drivers but still have no driver for network controller, could it be a problem with how windows loaded, should I reload it ???

there is a yellow exclamation mark against network controller,

Can you connect using an ethernet cable direct to the router ?

If you can - right click on the device with the yellow exclamation mark against it > click on "Update Drivers"

Use the "Auto Detect" option.

=============

If you have no internet connection ...

Right click on the device with the exclamation mark > Properties > Details

It will probably say "Device Description" .......click the down arrow and click on Hardware IDs

It will give you a list that looks like this:

Copy these and post here.

It may help to locate the appropriate driver.

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!

Hi

Try the drivers from here:

You will need to know if your system is 32 or 64 bit

Thanks but dowloaded the drivers from this site and installed them with no problems but still no drivers or internet connection, I would be grateful for any other ideas

Hi

It is no consolation - but I have a Vista laptop with exactly the same problem at the moment .......

If you go back to device manager is the yellow exclamation mark still there?

You didn't say if you had a connection using an ethernet cable ?

Thanks for all your help, I have now sorted it, badge on the netbook said it was a dot s but I ran "Speccy" and found the motherboard was Dot SE, downloaded the correct drivers and all is well, the only thing now is I can't change the home page as the option to save current page is greyed out, anyone got an idea about that ?????? I'm using Windows 7 home premium and Firefox browser

Thanks for the feedback, I read this thread a few times and couldn't understand why you had an Intel wireless card - Dot S machine's were not fitted with Intel. Mystery solved!
