PEV Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Hi all, I have had this 'all in one' for several years and all has been OK. However I recently rountinely needed to replace both the colour and black cartridges as they were run out. (As usual as advised by the automatic installation instructions I used the auto printed test print sheet to align in the scanner for best results.) I am now having problems with colour printing as colours are now 'wishy washy' I have looked at various help sections and even Googled help but the only advice I can find is to remove the cartridge and gently wipe the contacts which I have done to no avail. I dont know if I am mistakenlythinking of a previous inkjet printer I owned years ago but I thought there was a way to check and if required take action to correct if colours were not clear? Anyway I can't find this fix if it exists! Any help please. Ray Quote
seedy21 Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Hello PEV Are you using HP Ink Cartiridges?? Are you refilling them ??? On my Epson Printer they is a Clean Print Heads which Flushes the Ink though the Nozzles which does Clean it. Maybe an Idea to do if they is a option there. PEV Posted March 20, 2013 Author Posted March 20, 2013 Yes that was it! my previous printer was an epsom which had a way of checking print quality. But does the HP psc 1110 have any such way of improving prink quality/colour intensity? All ideas very welcome! Thanks ray Quote
KenB Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Hi Ray Control Panel > Printers Right click on the printer and click on Properties If Maintenance is here there should be an option to clean print heads. PEV Posted March 21, 2013 Author Posted March 21, 2013 Hi Ken and good to hear from you! I followed your instructions to control panel, properties which does not have a 'maintainance' option. There was however an instruction to print a test page which I did and was told all is fine (the test page giving all the technical details of the device) but the only colour print on the test page was for the windows motif which is very small but showed all the colours. I just wonder if there is something wrong with the print cartridge (it's a refill) though I always have used them and never any issues in the past. Anyway Ken I'll see how it goes as I dont use colour very much it was just a one of when I had to print off a few A5 posters and needed a nice bright red (tough!) Good to know you guys are there to help! I will get back if things don't setle down and thanks again. Ray Quote
Plastic Nev Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Hi Ray, if no improvement after that, it is possible you have a bad cartridge, especially if it is a re-manufactured one and not a HP new one. seedy21 Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 I agree with Nev I would replace the colour cartridge if it does not improve. (would recommend a HP not a compartible one) Quote “It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything.”― Chuck Palahniuk, Fight Club http://www.geekstogo.com/downloads/unite_blue.png Need help with your computer problems? Plastic Nev Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 I used to have an older HP machine and did refill cartridges myself, but soon discovered they will only take about three refills before the print head starts to get clogged and will not print very well at all after that. So if you are refilling them, or buying the refilled none HP so called compatibles, you may well have a cartridge that has been refilled a few times already. Nev.
