I have two printers here one a Canon ip4500 and the other, (more recent) an Epson SX425W. Like a lot of you ,I thought the original ink prices were a bit 'much' so opted for alternatives... Only needed to change the Black cartridge, (this machine drinks ink !) but nope,, no go, " cartridge not recognised" .. Really prefer the Canon, but I'm stuck with this one ... Any suggestions please?? Quote

Jelly Bean Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 I was without my Epson Stylus DX 8400 for some time thinking it had died.Infact after 2 years I plugged it in and it kept giving me ink error,never gave me that error before. It came to pass those none Epson refills were the issue. I replaced the cartridges about 2 weeks ago and my printer/scanner is back up and running. Your issue is those copy cartridges. robroy Posted April 9, 2013 Author Posted April 9, 2013 Thanks Jelly Bean, So many conflicting reports regarding ink for various printers, but yes I tend to agree, that manufacturers really want to 'hog' the market.. I thought the 'copy' cartridge people had just about got it beat,.. obviously .. not quite ..Yet my Canon, does'nt mind what cartridge, (within reason ) I use ! Thanks again Quote

robroy Posted April 10, 2013 Author Posted April 10, 2013 OK KenB, Will do, I am going to try another ' recommended' firm for inks, and try again.. Failing that , will even try to 'Refiil' the Epson cartridges,and if I,m told "Not recognised" !.. dump the printer ???? cheers Quote
Jelly Bean Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 My little old HP will take any none branded inks,it is brilliant.Yes I am afraid to say Epson forces us to buy there brand.There is a shop in Morriston Swansea and they sell copies my friend swears they are great.I tried them my printer stopped working. Go on the Epson website they recommended Cheetah for my inks.My inks cost £37-99 for all four.Still cheaper than Tesco.
