KenB Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 This confirms what Nev was saying earlier ....... Driver issue or the sound chip has packed up. You have tried the drivers that Nev suggested. It looks like you will need to install an inexpensive PCI sound card. one example - click here You could give the drivers here a try: click here It is a T5052 ...........I know you say yours is a 5250. No harm done if they don't work. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test
a p r Posted May 13, 2013 Author Posted May 13, 2013 Thanks KenB On the front of my machine there's a sticker saying emachine model number 5250 / s,number QM752 001 00056, cant find any other reference on machine, also unable to find original paper work for when i first bought the machine. The emachine link looks interesting has all different driver down loads but i cant see any that say for audio, should i be able to down load and install the drivers for my computer from this site, if so how. I down loaded the first on the list and it open only in a file form. Many thanks Alan Quote
KenB Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 but i cant see any that say for audio Strange - the top two are Audio Drivers when I look. Realtek and Sigmatel. If you see them - The top one looks to be Vista ( 32 bit ) and the Sigmatel is XP. If, when you click on the download button, you get the option ............select "Run". This will install the drivers direct. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test

KenB Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Hi Alan It looks as if you are going to have to spend a little on an inexpensive sound card as Nev suggested earlier. If Nev couldn't find the problem then I knew we were going to struggle. example - click here Make sure your choice is compatible with XP. I Googled "PCI sound card" PCI is the type of slot on your motherboard - there are different ones ( PCI express x 1 for instance ) I think your m/board has 2 PCI slots and one PCIe x 1 ( a very small slot ) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
