PC does not turn on

I have a Fujitsu Siemens desktop PC when I turn it on it immediately turns it off can you someone help please?

 

When I turn it on the fan spins and then the whole PC shuts down

I check and there is still good amount of thermal compound on processor and heat sink.

All the wires are correctly plugged in I have checked it.

When I turn it on it does not even get to BIOS, its turns off before that.

 

 

I think that it could be power supply but I am asking for your help because it could be other component and I don't want to buy something else and waste money.

 

 

Do you have any other idea what could cause the PC not to turn on so I can look into it?

Hi,

It can indeed be the power supply faulty, or the motherboard, or both. Considering that BIOS isn't even attempting to start, the motherboard is the favourite, however it could be the power supply failing took out the motherboard as well.

Only by swapping things around with known to be good stuff, which does mean buying a power supply and a motherboard if you don't already have them.

 

All a bit expensive, it is cheaper in the end to take the computer to a reputable repair shop and ask for it to be checked out.

 

There may be a small fee, but at least you will then know what the problem is and be able to decide where or what to do next.

have you taken the heatsink and fan off the CPU ?

If so - you need to clean both surfaces of the old thermal paste and apply new. ( please ask if unsure )

 

I assume that you get no POST beeps ?

This could be HEAT as well.

Check inside the case for dust - especially the fans and vents.

Try running the system with the side panel off.

Do you get any further with the boot process now ?
