stec0111 Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Hi all, My DVD-RAM (should windows not recognise this as dvd-rom?) is not reading any type of disks. It is recognised by windows and the tray opens and closes, it does just not read. I have trouble-shooted the hardware (MAXTOR STM318AS & HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H40N) and windows say both devices are working properly. I have checked the manufacturer’s website (now seagate) and can't find my device. I am using windows xp ver 5.1 (sp3). Help would be appreciated. Quote
KenB Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Hi and welcome to ExTS Start > Run .... type in ....devmgmt.msc .....ENTER Click the + next to CDROM Drive Are there any yellow exclamation marks ? Right click on your device > uninstall Restart the computer. This will then cause Windows to detect "New Hardware" and re-install the software drivers.
