can't activate windows firewall or windows defender

hi, when i try to activate windows firewall i get this error:

 

[ATTACH=CONFIG]1007.vB5-legacyid=1917[/ATTACH]

 

and when i try to activate windows defender this is what i see:

 

[ATTACH=CONFIG]1008.vB5-legacyid=1918[/ATTACH]

 

...What should i do :/?

Chances are the solution for the firewall will be found here.

“0x80070422” error message when you try to enable Windows Firewall

 

It sounds like both services are disabled. This could happen if you are infected or if you have an antivirus suite installed. Some suites will disable those.

 

Another thing that might be an issue is if Defender is not updating. Are Windows Updates set to Automatic?

thanks a lot, i owe you a tonne! method 4 from that link helped! i actually did download some suspicious program today but the immediately deleted it, but it left windows services disabled, as i described. everything works fine now, thanks again!!
