viscountdriver Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I need some urgent help. My computer unexpectedly told me my hard drive was full so I bought an external drive with a big capacity.A week later it says the external drive is full.Have I a virus? Quote
KenB Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Hi and welcome to ExTS. Have I a virus? Could be - but unlikely. Right click on the drive letter > Properties This will show you a graph of the drive. [ Used space / Free space ] Is it full ? Do you have backup software running ? Which AV are you using ? Can you take a look at the files on the new drive - there will be some big ones. Are the file extensions all the same? What is the file extension ? ( this will give an indication as to what is causing the problem ) The file extension is .doc / .jpg etc after the file name. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test

Vr5fx Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Can you tell us the internal storage space of the hard drive in the computer? It sounds like backup software, if the hard drives are similar sizes. -Vr Quote AMD FX 6100 @ 3.9Ghz / Asus M5A99X EVO 990X / G-Skill 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz RipjawsX / Zotac GeForce GTX 660 Ti / Corsair TX 750W V2 PSU / Antec Kuhler 620 / Win7 64 / NZXT Tempest 410 Elite / NZXT 6 channel fan controller / Kingston 240GB HyperX 3K SSD / 1TB HDD Intel Pentium G2020 2.90GHz / Gigabyte GA-Z77N-WIFI / Kingston 4GB DDR3 1600MHz HyperX Genesis / Corsair 430W CXM / Fractal Design Node 304 Mini ITX Case / 2TB WD Greenhttp://steamsignature.com/status/default/76561197986113115.png

KenB Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 You only answered part of my questions: Do you have backup software running ? Which AV are you using ? Can you take a look at the files on the new drive - there will be some big ones. Are the file extensions all the same? What is the file extension ? ( this will give an indication as to what is causing the problem ) The file extension is .doc / .jpg etc after the file name. If you are unsure - just ask :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test
