Benji Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 (edited) Hi, I use Internet Explorer on my home pc (Windows XP home). No real problem with that, maybe not the fastest browser around, but ok for my needs I have to say. My question is, some downloads are not supported by IE (ex: Spotify), and recommend I use either Google Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. Reluctantly, I'm going to have to install a 2nd browser on my pc, but which would you recommend? (the lightest one would be great, I don't like clutter! But that may not be the best approach!?) FYI, i use the web mostly to go on Facebook, Youtube, Dailymotion, TV and Radio podcasts and Iplayers, etc... Thank you :) Benji Edited May 14, 2013 by Benji Quote

Plastic Nev Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Just as asked by KenB my particular like is Firefox and find it a much easier to use browser than the recent things they have done with Internet explorer. Also you can add on various plug ins or add ons to help your use of Firefox, and I will advocate installing AdBlock Plus. That stops all of the annoying adverts you find on some websites. I will add here that SRWare Iron has its own built in advert blocker, however I have not yet tried that browser, so can't say how it performs in comparison to the Firefox add on. Google Chrome or Safari may be OK for some, but Googles Chrome isn't too hot in the privacy department. Safari, I just couldn't get on with it myself. Nev. Benji Posted May 14, 2013 Author Posted May 14, 2013 Google Chrome or Safari may be OK for some, but Googles Chrome isn't too hot in the privacy department. If I decided to go with Google Chrome, would Incognito help with privacy? (I've been using InPrivate mode with IE so far. I don't mind re-loading my usernames and passwords every morning, not a problem for me). Or does that not make any difference to my privacy? Thanks for the feedback so far :) Quote
Armageddon Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Just a quick point the link to SRWare Iron in Kens post the download on the link also downloads what we'd call crapware so If you do install make sure to do a custom install so you can make sure the added crap isn't installed. Thank you. I don't think i'll be opting for that one though, as I've not really heard of it that much. I was more thinking along the lines of Firefox, safari, or Google chrome. Benji Quote
