Can you help me please SSD problem

I have just installed a new samsung 840 series 24gb SSD i have formatted it and it is now showing in the bios and the systembut when I try to install windows 7 ultimate by means of a partition copy,it wont boot even when i make it the first in boot order in the bios,can you tell me what I am doing wrong?, I used samsung magician to copy to it,and now they say use norton ghost which I have now downloaded but not tried yet,I will wait to hear from you as you have helped me in the past. :confused:

I have not used Magician or Ghost ( I use Macrium Reflect )

 

I took a look at the Magician manual and to be honest, there isn't any detail there to explain how to clone your drive.

( unless I am missing something )

If they are suggesting using Ghost there must be a reason.

 

Somebody else here may be able to assist with Ghost - alternatively I can direct you to a Macrium Reflect Tutorial of mine.

I'd recommend Macrium too - use it to clone the partition.

 

I've done it recently, mechanical drive to SSD, Windows 7, dead easy as long as you have a way of connecting both source and destination drive at the same time.

 

Macrium locks the drive state and clones it over, plus you can select partitions rather than full drives if you are cloning to a smaller capacity drive.

 

One other possibility, have you checked the firmware version of your SSD, some need an update from the manufacturer to get them running on certain systems.
