Ahyslop Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Hello, thanks in advance for reading and trying to help. I will start from the beginning to make things clear, I built my own pc about a year ago which has been working perfectly fine until about 5 weeks ago when it started restarting itself when it got to the BIOS, at first I let it keep restarting itself and eventually it actually turned on. It did this a few times which I ignored and assumed it was just a small problem that doesn't need to be seen too because It did boot eventually. However today I turned my computer on after using it yesterday for a long period, the computer started rebooting itself on the bios screen and it done it for about 15 minutes until it stopped on a black screen with a this simble "_" flashing on the top left and then it turned off, but this time it didn't restart. I tried turning it back on but nothing happened, the light was on at the back on my power supply so my computer has power but now thing happens when I press the on button. Can anyone give me any advice on what I should do? Quote
KenB Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Hi and welcome to ExTS Did this system used to give you a POST beep on startup ? If so - does it beep now ? If it doesn't beep ( and should ) I wrote a tutorial that may help: http://s13.zetaboards.com/kenspchelp/topic/6964867/1/#new =========== This could still be a PSU issue. Do you have a spare ( of any wattage ) to try ? Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Ahyslop Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 (edited) I don't have an internal speaker so it never beeps :( the model is ga p67a ud3 b3 and no I don't have a spare PSU Edited May 22, 2013 by Ahyslop Quote
KenB Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 I would be inclined to strip the m/b down to just the 20(4) way cable from the PSU. ( as per my previous post ) Switch on and watch the case and CPU fans. If they remain stable you can begin putting the cards etc back one at a time. If, however, it still re-starts when completely stripped down it is either the PSU or the m/board that is at fault. So you think the only other option must be a fault in the mother board? Its not that it restarts all the time, it actually doesn't turn on at all. Quote
Plastic Nev Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Hi, did you follow the instructions and try the new power supply with everything else stripped off except the power supply 20(4) way plugged in? Did any fans start up, or was it still completely dead? If not please do so, however if you did do all that and still no life it has to be the motherboard. Nev.
