can anyone offer any advice with my pc, when i try to start pc it just starts toload then when it gets so far it trys to reboot again and just continues like this. ihave pressed esc or delete when starting up and gone into the settings, but i dont know which settings are right. etc = 1 boot harddrive, 2nd boot floppy etc,(its not set like that, thats just example.. hope someone can help. thanks.

Hi Kilster

 

When booting the best settings are for first boot option is;

 

1: Hard disk drive, ie, C:

 

2: CDROM, (this could be any drive letter)

 

3: Floppy Disk or LAN.

 

Change the boot order to this and get back to us if you still encounter problems.

Hi Kilster.

 

Try this:

 

Keep tapping F8 as soon as you turn on your computer to get to to a boot menu. From that menu, use the arrow keys to highlight Last Known Good Configuration and tap enter. If that doesn't work, try Safe Mode from that boot menu.

tried all that still no joy, when it loads to a certain point it clicks then restarts, im re installing windows will that help, i set it to boot from cd. i'll let you know what happens

im just letting everyone know that i have fixed the problem, all i did was to reinstall windows and everything is fine, so if anyone can take this post down they can. thanks for your help anyway

Thanks for the update Kilster.

 

The problem may have been errors on the hard drive. It's probably a good idea to run hard drive error checking:

 

Start>Run>type in chkdsk /r and press ok.
