ernest09 Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Am using SQL 2005 enterprise edition, I tried to start database engine service of SQL 2005 through SQL Server configuration managerbut it failed to start, and whennever I log in, I get the following message, that is "An error has occured while establishing connection to the server, when connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL sSERVER DOES NOT ALLOW REMOTE connections.(provider: Named Pipes provider, error: 40 -could not open a connection to SQL server)(Microsoft SQL Server, Error:1231) BUT even I log in my local mashine it still tell me the same error thats why i fail to log in Quote

Starbuck Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 SQL 2005 Enterprise Edition won't install on XP. You can install the Developer Edition on XP and get the same functionality as the Enterprise Edition. Alternatively, you can create a Virtual Server image that is running the compatible OS version and then install SQL Server Enterprise Edition into that. So no wonder you are having problems.
