KenB Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Hi J-L Acer machines with Win8 installed do not have a conventional BIOS ( F2 or DEL key to enter ) I took the following from the Acer site to save writing it out :) ========================= On systems with Windows 8 pre-installed, you can access the UEFI (BIOS) setup screens from the Windows 8 boot menu: Press the Windows (http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/images/icon_Windows8_key.png) key + C, or swipe in from the right edge of the screen to open your Charms. Click Settings. Click Change PC Settings. In PC Settings, select General. Under Advanced startup, click Restart now. The system will restart and show the Windows 8 boot menu. In the boot menu, select Troubleshoot. In the Troubleshoot menu, select Advanced options. In the Advanced options menu, select UEFI Firmware Settings. Click Restart to restart the system and enter UEFI (BIOS). The Windows 8 boot menu will also show automatically after Windows 8 fails to start successfully three times. jayden-lee Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 thanks, big help.... but i cant seem to find out how to over clock it (over clocking because it lagges just from youtube >.>) Quote
KenB Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 If it is only You tube I wouldn't mess about with over-clocking. What is your connection speed ? use this ...... click here Wait for "Begin Test" to appear DON'T click on the "Start Now" button. jayden-lee Posted May 31, 2013 Author Posted May 31, 2013 its not just youtube, its a couple other programs that my netpad can run, i just want a nice even 2.0Ghz cpu so its not to sluggish this laptop 8GB ram 1.6Ghz cpu netpad 1GB ram 1.67Ghz cpu Quote
KenB Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Nothing wrong with your d/l speed - this is what mine is and I have no problem with You Tube. Your system should play Y-T video without over-clocking the CPU Some system "BIOS" are not set up for making changes to CPU / RAM etc. I also found this article: click here It suggests that MS do not recommend overclocking. A Microsoft Research report, published in April 2011 but only just coughed to the top of the web ahead of the Windows 8 launch, has found that overclocked CPUs are substantially more likely to make a Windows PC crash than chips left untouched. The message: pick your PC wisely and resist home-brew fiddling. If you still want to try I will ask one of our moderators - I am not too familiar with UEFI Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
