ajmphenom Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Hey, My first post but really need help, been sat for hours looking for a new board as disaster has sticken. The dilemma started when i thought one of my RAM modules died (constant blue screens and freezing), i then decided to buy two new matching modules "crucial ballistix" to run better in DC mode. After about a day my computer started to blue screen again and kept crashing so i know it could not have been the memory i threw away in the first place (what a waste of "rare expensive" ddr2). Just before this happened i bought a AM2+ Phenom 9950 2.6ghz quad CPU, but the one that runs at 140 Watts NOT the 125w version http://www.pchelpforum.com/xf/styles/default/xenforo/clear.png, After moving ram back and forwards and running on only one DIMM slot, i have realised that one of the DIMM slots must have given up and thus the reason it blue screens constantly with 2 ram sticks in. so the issue now is that i need a AM2+ motherboard (cheap if poss), that uses DDR2 (800mhz) and supports 140W for my new CPU (AMD Phenom X4 9950 - 2.6 GHz Quad-Core (HD995Z***HBOX) Processor). The current build before it died was :- ECS 6100PM-M2 Rev 2.0 (which ironically did support the cpu but is discontinued). 4 GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800MHZ AMD phenom x4 9350e (crap yeh i know). Nvidia GTX275 900w PSU (cant remember the spec as im at work) Ohh yeh and to top it off im from the UK/England so its even harder to find one http://www.pchelpforum.com/xf/styles/default/xenforo/clear.png. Pleaseeeee help me find a cheapish board ASAP. Thanks Adam Quote
KenB Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Hi and welcome to ExTS I have spent some time looking for you - with no results I am afraid. It is the 140 Watts that is the problem :( Have you thought of changing the CPU ? I see from your profile that you are a "Computing Graduate in Hardware" I hope you intend to stick around and jump in when you feel like contributing. :) Hopefully one of the other guys here may have more luck.
