KenB Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Hi and welcome to ExTS I have deleted your other 2 posts - there is only need to post once ...........we will find it :) but often it fails to properly start up windows there is just a black screen and it dosent change hours later. It sounds as if you have a problem that requires a "return to purchaser". If you have only had the machine for 6 months it should still be under warranty. There are one or two things we could try without affecting the warranty .......... you would need to post this in the Win7 forum. =========== Re your internet connection so i ettepted to connect with another laptop this worked This confirms that the problem lies with your machine. Start ....type in .....devmgmt.msc ......ENTER Click the > next to "Network Adapters" 1. What is listed? 2. Are there any yellow exclamation marks ? 3. Do you have your machine set to "Obtain IP Address Automatically" ? ======= Try the following: Start > ...type in ......cmd .....right click on cmd.exe that shows top left > Run as Administrator At the prompt type ipconfig /release ( hit ENTER ) [ note - there is a space after ipconfig ] Then type ..... ipconfig /renew Chances are you will get an error message. Let me know the result. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test

This is known as a APIPA Address (more information can be from here ) A simple thing we can do to attempted to fix this is to turn off your Router at your house, Wait five minutes and them turn it on again and test the machine from there. (sounds like a dum think to do but the DHCP on the router can fall over even though you can access the internet on other devices) Quote “It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything.”― Chuck Palahniuk, Fight Club http://www.geekstogo.com/downloads/unite_blue.png Need help with your computer problems? seedy21 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 (edited) Thats not a problem :) Although you should have a firewall active. Run this scan before trying safe mode. Download Security Check by screen317 from here or here. Save it to your Desktop. Double click SecurityCheck.exe. If you run Windows Vista or 7, right click and choose 'Run as Administrator'. If you are asked by Windows to run this program or not, please click 'Yes' or 'Run'. When you see a console window, press any key to continue scanning. Wait while it scans. If your firewall alerts you of Security Check, please press 'Allow' or similar. Now lets try booting up in safe mode with networking Turn your computer off through Shut Down. Wait a few seconds, then turn it back on. Once your computer's manufacturer logo (eg. 'ACeR') starts to show, start pressing the F8 key repeatedly. Keep pressing it until the Windows Advanced Options Menu loads up. Make sure 'Safe Mode with Networking' is selected, navigate to it by using the arrow keys. Press enter, and your computer will start booting into Safe Mode. Please try your machine from there.
