Hi and welcome to ExTS

I have deleted your other 2 posts - there is only need to post once ...........we will find it :)

but often it fails to properly start up windows there is just a black screen and it dosent change hours later.

It sounds as if you have a problem that requires a "return to purchaser".

If you have only had the machine for 6 months it should still be under warranty.

There are one or two things we could try without affecting the warranty .......... you would need to post this in the Win7 forum.

===========

Re your internet connection

so i ettepted to connect with another laptop this worked

This confirms that the problem lies with your machine.

Start ....type in .....devmgmt.msc ......ENTER

Click the > next to "Network Adapters"

1. What is listed?

2. Are there any yellow exclamation marks ?

3. Do you have your machine set to "Obtain IP Address Automatically" ?

=======

Try the following:

Start > ...type in ......cmd .....right click on cmd.exe that shows top left > Run as Administrator

At the prompt type ipconfig /release ( hit ENTER )

[ note - there is a space after ipconfig ]

Then type ..... ipconfig /renew

Chances are you will get an error message.

Let me know the result.

We are not going to get anywhere very fast if you don't answer my questions.

Start ....type in .....devmgmt.msc ......ENTER

Click the > next to "Network Adapters"

1. What is listed?

2. Are there any yellow exclamation marks ?

3. Do you have your machine set to "Obtain IP Address Automatically" ?

===============

rpc server is unavalable.

Check that the RPC Service is set to "Automatic"

Start > type in ....services.msc .....ENTER

Scroll down to Remote Procedure Call Service

Check it is "Automatic"

Let me know what it is set to.

==========

I am away until Monday.

Somebody else may pick this up.

okay

1)whats listed is my devices and such but ove netwok adapters the 1st one says qualcomm atheros AR5BWB222 wireless network adapter and belowit realtek PCIe GBE family controller + there was two exclimation marks but i was adviced to uninstall my antivruse as i had two and they could have conflicted so i did so and the exclimation marks disapeered.

2)yes its set to obtain ip adresses automatically

3)okay when i type in ipconfig /release it says an error occureded while releasing interface wireless network connection: the RPC server is unavalable.

no operation can be peformed on local area connection while it has ist media disconected .

an error occured while releasing interface loopback pseudo-interface 1 :the system cannot fing the file specified it also says this for ipconfig /renew and this is when im conected to my wifi with limited connection.

Thank you for this information

and just to be sure ure not goint to mess with my ip are u?

The problem looks to be related to IP

Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address. . : 169.254.73.208(Preferred)

Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0

Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :

Your machine is not getting an IP address from your routor and the IP address the machine has got is one that it has made up its self. This is known as a APIPA Address (more information can be from here )

A simple thing we can do to attempted to fix this is to turn off your Router at your house, Wait five minutes and them turn it on again and test the machine from there. (sounds like a dum think to do but the DHCP on the router can fall over even though you can access the internet on other devices)

This will normally happen when devices are plug in, turn on for long periods of time. My home router also requires a restart every now and then. Just give it go and see if it fixes your problem :)

Hi Callumj

Hi Callumj.

I would like to try and see if given your machine an IP may fix the fault.

open the start menu, click Control Panel.

Double click Network and Sharing Center.

Click Manage Network Connections on the left side of your screen

Right click on the one you use to connect to the internet. Then click properties.

Click Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) and then the Properties button

Click on Use the following IP Address and type

Ip Address . . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.68

Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0

Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1

Click OK, then click OK

Reboot your computer and try it from there.

Thats not a problem :) Although you should have a firewall active.

Run this scan before trying safe mode.

  • Download Security Check by screen317 from here or here.
  • Save it to your Desktop.
  • Double click SecurityCheck.exe. If you run Windows Vista or 7, right click and choose 'Run as Administrator'.
  • If you are asked by Windows to run this program or not, please click 'Yes' or 'Run'.
  • When you see a console window, press any key to continue scanning.
  • Wait while it scans.
  • If your firewall alerts you of Security Check, please press 'Allow' or similar.

Now lets try booting up in safe mode with networking

  • Turn your computer off through Shut Down.
  • Wait a few seconds, then turn it back on.
  • Once your computer's manufacturer logo (eg. 'ACeR') starts to show, start pressing the F8 key repeatedly.
  • Keep pressing it until the Windows Advanced Options Menu loads up.
  • Make sure 'Safe Mode with Networking' is selected, navigate to it by using the arrow keys.
  • Press enter, and your computer will start booting into Safe Mode.

Please try your machine from there.

Hi,

I think the problem lies with TCP/IP from here:

Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address. . : 169.254.73.208(Preferred)

Seedy started looking at this earlier.

Try the following:

Start ...type in .... cmd ...right click on ...cmd.exe that appears top left of screen > Run as Administrator

At the command prompt type the following:

netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt .......[ note the spaces ]

You will need to re-boot the system.
