Hi Callumj

What do you mean by the computer does not start up properly?

can you try and access safe mode for me??

  • Turn your computer off through Shut Down.
  • Wait a few seconds, then turn it back on.
  • Once your computer's manufacturer logo (eg. 'ACeR') starts to show, start pressing the F8 key repeatedly.
  • Keep pressing it until the Windows Advanced Options Menu loads up.
  • Make sure 'Safe Mode' is selected, navigate to it by using the arrow keys.
  • Press enter, and your computer will start booting into Safe Mode.

I didn't really want you to do the command thing, i just wanted to make sure your computer was booting up again :)

Are you now able to boot in normal mode?

Hi

Try this again - not sure if it worked properly last time

netsh winsock reset catalog

Reboot computer

You don't need to shut it down completely - just "Restart"

In post 9 you wrote this ....

there was two exclimation marks but i was adviced to uninstall my antivruse ...... and the exclimation marks disapeered.

This doesn't make sense to me.

Can you please recheck the device manager and let me know if there are any yellow exclamation marks or red Xs against the Network Adapters ?

This is the problem ( as Seedy pointed out before )

You are not getting an IP Address allocated - we need to find out why.

Please go to the command prompt again ( use the method described earlier )

Type in ...

ping 127.0.0.1

You should get 4 packets sent and no losses.

Do you ?
