Vista ProfileList Key deleted

Hi

I used spybot and didn't back up, then deleted spybot because it was playing me up.

It seems to have deleted the ProfileList so when i go into HKEY-Local-Marchine/software/microsoft/WindowsNT/current version/profilelist

it only goes as far as current version then there is no profilelist and so no sid key.

 

have also tried system restore going back a couple of weeks but it still won't let me log on to my profile. However,, I am the administrator and it will let me 'allow' programmes

 

Can someone help me please - I need to get to my docs and can't soooo depressing and it is my own stoopid fault for not backing up and deleteing spybot

Hi Chrissie and welcome to fpch can you answer a couple of questions was your system bought with vista already on if not do you have the disk ? secondly how important are the docs you need to acsess

Things went from bad to worse and this morning I had to take it to our local computer shop as I couldn't even get it to start up. The docs were important and I was in the middle of a legal issue so I should have backed up somehow but .......I hadn't

He managed to access the docs, transferred them to one of his external hard drives and told me how to copy them and he is going to have to reinstall vista as I don't have discs.

 

I'm really pleased to have access to the documents and photos but it is going to cost a lot to sort it lol

Does the computer guy still have your system or do you have it Christine ?

We could have explained how to do this - it is not difficult :)
