I got a phone call the other day from my ISP people, offering to renew my contract at a lower price, which knocked a good £6.00 of the usual monthly fee, all with no change to my service of unlimited downloads. Quite good of them though I have read other ISP's are also lowering their prices.

Has any one else had such good news and is it a similar drop in price?

BT have dropped the price of unlimited BB from about £26-00 to £13-00 and some odd pence. This means unlimited wifi connection to hotspots and no more data usage fees.Speeds are still rubbish but its at least cheaper.

Hello JB,

You must mean "per month". What exactly does your figure include ?

I am with Virgin Media, the "L" package up to 20 Mb and pay £28.65 inc. £4.77 VAT. It is unlimited.

I pay a line rental of £14.99, but that includes the telephone - not included in above figures.

That pricing from Virgin is why I will not use them, cable is in my street but not at those prices.

Here is why, I am on BT for the phone only, however I seldom use it so this results on what was once called the "Low user Rebate", they give it a different name now but it amounts to the same thing. That gives me a total phone bill of around £14.85 per quarter or three month period. That includes and is mainly the line rental price.

I use an independent ISP who after the price drop, are charging around £14.50 a month.

Add that to the phone at one third is a monthly bill of £19.45.

OK phone line internet speed isn't great I know, but it is fast enough for me most of the time.

Airborne I cannot get VirginMedia in my village I would if I could.

That is just BT internet per month.Line rental is more and rare is it that I use the landline.

Ive don research on the best internet in my area.BT told I would get up to 3 meg I get just over 5 meg. However after looking at Sky and other providers BT is the best speed I can expect so I am sticking with them.

Yes SHOCKED BT is the best deal and speed.

A few weeks' ago I changed from o2, who had recently been taken over by Sky, and when I rang them to cancel my account they offered me the same service that I'd been paying £14:50 pm for £5:00 pm. I did go ahead and sign up to BT but, when my contract ends, I'll certainly do some serious negotiating.

I pay for a Virgin Media package that includes loads of TV stations, telephone with calls to UK numbers included and a 60MB broadband connection. This costs £80 per month. I know it's a lot but we don't spend money on much else. VM have never put prices down but they do keep doubling the connection speed at no extra cost. I've heard they are considering another speed increase.

If you've a mind to, you could give them a ring to tell them you're financially strapped and thinking of going elsewhere, in which case they might offer you a better deal.

That's if your contract period has expired of course.
