CarterUSM Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Hi I have been encountering problems with internet access ever since I installed Hidemyass on my PC. (I’m a Windows XP user). These problems have continued even though I have done a System Restore to a date prior to the installation of HMA. Previously I could gain access to the internet once I’d done a system restore, and this appeared to be OK for a few days. Currently, however, when I switch on my PC, a Network Diagnostic box stating ‘Can’t reach DNS/Can’t connect to HTTP server’ appears. In addition, I’d also previously installed another VPN provider, unblock-us and a message ‘Couldn’t load configuration’ appears above the unblock-us icon in the taskbar. Would anyone be able to give me some easy to follow guidance as to how I can restore internet access? Presumably I need to do another System Restore to the date before I installed unblock-us? Many thanks in anticipation of your assistance. Quote
KenB Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Hi and welcome to ExTS I have seen problems created by H-M-A before. Download Revo-Uninstaller from here: ( the free version ) click here then scroll down the page. Install and un-install both programs. Use the advanced option Then download MBAM from here: click here Again you want the free version. You will have to download both programs to a memory stick then install them on the problem computer. With MBAM install it and run it. It will produce a log. copy this and post it here please. If it shows anything one of our security experts will advise further.
