PEV Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Since my PC has been restored after virus (as discussed on PC security malware removal) Now whenver I open up a window it is only half size. Although it's easy to expand to full size by clicking top right hand corner it's annoying me! Can anyone tell me how to sort this please? Ray Quote
KenB Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Hi Ray Open the window again and stretch it to the size you want Do not use the max icon top right. Then hold the CTRL key and shut the window using the red X ( top right ) Now try opening the window again. KenB Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Try this then: Open the window > stretch it to full size ( not using the max button ) > press ALT > hold CTRL and click on file ( top left ) > Exit You still need to be holding CTRL when you press Exit. RandyL Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 If that doesn't work here is another option. Drag the window larger. Don't close it. Open a new window. Drag it larger. Maximize the second window. Maximize the first window. Close the first window. Close the second window. Open a new window. The instructions for IE have to be exact. Sometimes I have to do it a few times with IE. PEV Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 none of these has worked guys. This is so frustrating as years ago I had this problem and overcame it but I can't remember how!!! It's more of a nuisence that anything but still a pain. Ray Quote
KenB Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Hi Ray I re-set mine to open smaller ( as you have ) then tried the solutions above. It was stuck and would not change - as you are experiencing. I had to repeatedly go over the process a number of times for it to change back. Give it a try :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test
DSTM Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I had this issue and fixed it by expanding the window, then right click on the left hand side right at the very top and selected close from the drop down menu. Can't remember whether one or two times fixed it. Quote Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.
PEV Posted June 25, 2013 Author Posted June 25, 2013 Did you expand via the top right hand bit or did you grag to full size? Either one didn't work after many tries Im afraid. Thanks anyway anyone else suggestions please? Ray Quote
RandyL Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 OK let me add a couple things. Right click a IE shortcut. Select Properties. Make sure the shortcut tab is selected. Next to Run: use the drop down arrow and select Normal window. Close all open IE Windows. Reopen IE. If Normal window was already selected change it. Close all open IE Windows. Reopen IE. Next to Run: use the drop down arrow and select Normal window. Close all open IE Windows. Reopen IE. As for my instructions you need to open a new instance of IE. Once you have one Window open don't open a second by clicking a link. Instead use the IE icon in the quick launch area if you have it enabled or use a different IE shortcut to open a second instance of IE. When doing the following when you open each window make sure it is not set as Maximized when you drag the window larger. (the box between the _ and the x at top right of page) Drag the window larger. Don't close it. Open a new window. Drag it larger. Maximize the second window. Maximize the first window. Close the first window. Close the second window. Open a new window. The instructions for IE have to be exact. Sometimes I have to do it a few times with IE. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. DSTM Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 doesn't work Randy as once you have dragged to full size all new windows open in full size. Ray I thought that is what you wanted. Quote Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.
PEV Posted June 29, 2013 Author Posted June 29, 2013 Oh no! Sorry I meant all new windows open in small size. This is what happens when you type with match sticks peoping your eye lids up! Ray Quote
RandyL Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Sorry Ray but I am out of ideas. All the suggestions by everyone have always solved this problem. Not just by us but by everyone. I suggest you print out all the instructions by all of us and try, try again. You could also try a System Restore and pick a date before this happened. You could also try Internet Options>Advanced tab>Restore Internet Explorer settings>Reset The above option will do many things like uninstalling toolbars etc. but you can try it if you want.
