Ajmdlc Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Hi there I'm new to this forum, I'm really struggling to get to the bottom of my problem I'm on windows vista home premium 38bit...about 3 wks ago my daughter was playing on friv online games and the keyboard stopped working? Since then all sorts has happened I had last night blue screen of death (i think) switched off...will not restart properly and can't get into safe mode as keyboard not work..I have bought a new one and it has been fitted? Still won't work? If I go to type something the search area fills up as though someone is holding down a key..in my case the comma key? This happened in Firefox and Internet explorer although doesn't seem to be happening in chrome? So I have done several virus scans I have bull dog installed I exited and downloaded Microsoft scan ..bit defender scan and the Microsoft 10 day scanner...no infections found?????? I'm just almost through a malware bytes scan? The page also in Firefox and explorer flips up and down as I was trying to download from acer last night to update Bluetooth and keyboard drivers but couldn't get the page to stop jumping gggrrrrrrr any help would be appreciated thank you...aj Quote
DSTM Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Hi. Ken knows more than I about Laptops. In the meantime try this. Just wondering if the Fn key is turned on causing this comma issue. Try pressing shift + numlock, to toggle the Fn feature. Quote Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.
Ajmdlc Posted June 29, 2013 Author Posted June 29, 2013 Hi I have tried this but to no avail....malwarebytes did find a virus worm? Pup.ibryte which has been quarantined ? Still can't use keyboard and the search bar keeps filling up a comma?? Still trying to get on acre website to update keyboard driver? :( Quote
KenB Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Hi and welcome to ExTS Please post the latest MBAM log. If you open MBAM ( Malwarebytes ) and click on the Logs tab ............. the latest logs are dated there. If you click on it - it will open in Notepad. Copy this and post it here please. Pup.ibryte is a "Possibly Unwanted Programme" ....... not definite malware. If this is all that it found we will probably need to try something else. ============= When you say that you bought a new keyboard - was this a replacement or external USB keyboard? If replacement try tapping the comma key over and over. If you have not tried an external keyboard - does the same thing happen when using that ?
