Hey guys im having a bit of trouble starting my pc up. When I press the power button it starts up and then I hear the fan turn and then it goes off. If I let it repeat this cycle a few times it eventually starts up. Any ideas?

Also iv noticed my power on butron is sticking q bit, could this also be a cause of the problem?

Hi

iv noticed my power on butron is sticking q bit, could this also be a cause of the problem?

It could be.

If it is sticking in then after about 7 seconds or so it will shut down again.

Check this first.

Other than that - it could be PSU.

Best way to check this is to swap it with a known good one.

No need to be the same wattage.

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!

Hi, you haven't said whether this is a laptop or a desktop computer.

However if it is a desktop and your start button is on the front, or top front, the panel it is mounted on is usually easily removable.

The button part comes away with it leaving the switch part itself still on the chassis or case behind it. You usually can then find what is making the button part stick then.

However if it is a laptop, the button may be quite a complex disassemble job best left to a technician who knows how to take that make of laptop apart.

Let us know please the make and model of the computer and if desktop or laptop. We may be able to find instructions for removing the panels with that information.

Soery I forgot to mention its a custom built desktop. I've had the machine for atleast 5 years now and never had this problem before. Also when its eventually up and running theres no problems.
