Plastic Nev Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 If the left button of the mouse is either held in or stuck or sticking, moving away from the scroll bar it will jump back to wherever you first started to scroll. Check the left (usually the thumb operated one) and see if it is sticking. Press it in, you should hear it click, let go and it should click again, if it doesn't or takes its time to release and then clicks, that is your problem. Usually it is the internal switch, which means replacing the mouse. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Register here. summerset Posted July 13, 2013 Author Posted July 13, 2013 Hello, This is my 1st time here on this kind of thing. I will try to explain a little better. I have a cordless mouse, Logitec M215. The problem I have is when I scroll with the wheel the page will jump back to the top. It will do this 2 or 3 times but will stay if I persist. This problem still exists if I use my finger pad on the lap top. I did get on to a site some where that suggested it may be a virus. Thank you for your reply. Beven C. Quote
Plastic Nev Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Hi if you suspect virus or other malware is responsible, first question has to be which anti-virus are you using and also which firewall if you can tell us please. To see if there is anything there that shouldn't be, please download and install Malwarebytes Free". Do make sure you get the free version and not the trial or pro. Download it from here:- http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ Click on the "Download Now" button under the grey coloured free column. That will take you to a hosting site which could be one of a few, that is OK, but when installing watch out for and remove ticks for tool bars or other added junk, especially if the host site is CNet. Once you have Malwarebytes installed, first find and click the update button, then once it has updated, select the quick scan and then scan. When it has run a scan, it should then present a log which opens in a notepad page, please copy and paste that log into your next reply. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? RandyL Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I looked at your mouse and it did not come with software. So we can rule that out. It just uses the basic USB drivers. It is strange that it does the same thing with both the cordless mouse and the touchpad. Best to do what Plastic Nev suggested. It can't hurt. Quote We are all members helping other members.
