All the parts are listed on this site: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/1dLx3 Thanks, Jack Hi. Your listed power supply isn't powerful enough to happily run your listed spec. You'll need a safe minimum of 550w The below sentence is my personal opinion..... If your going to use it for gaming, lose the ITX case and motherboard and go full size. You'll end up with airflow issues in such a small case. I am not a gamer myself but I tend to agree with Vr5fx. The Video Card for one will produce a lot of heat - especially if it is working hard. If this is your first build then I would go along with the above advice - you don't want any problems after spending all of that cash. :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Guitarman Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 Thanks guys sorry for not replying I've been on holiday... I am so glad you guys said that as all day I have been looking at my different options and its driving me insane! I'm stuck between AMD processors and Intel... Originally as you saw I was going Intel but with the next gen consoles having AMD processors I though AMD might be a better option as developers are going to be making games that will be optimized for AMD and AMD has the advantage of extra cores for your money.. But are they better? There are so many mixed opinions out there so I have no clue! I could really do with some help because I'm really lost on where to even start now.. I'm also stuck on what motherboard and what motherboards support what cards and everything... The plan is I'm saving up to get all the parts by Christmas so I'm looking at about 600-700 pound... maybe 750 at a push... So what would you guys get with that budget? I know it will take a while to put together a reply to this but if you can help I would be so grateful! Thanks in advance.. Jack :) p.s. I also want to use it for recording my music so just thought I'd mention that if that changes anything :D and in case you ask games I want to play will be: The Elder Scrolls Online, Minecraft (dunno why I put this because I can play it now but anyway), Battlefield 3/4, Skyrim, Planetside 2, GTA, Borderlands 2... I know it's a lot of cpu intensive games but I want to be able to play them on high settings and if my budget can't reach it still post a build even if it's more expensive and I'll just save longer as I want this PC to not be a compromise again like this one was.. Thanks, Jack Page Format edited by KenB - it will be easier to read :) Quote
KenB Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Hi Jack, Some suggestions to ponder until Vr5Fx can add his thoughts : 1. Your choice of Video Card is good. see options here - click here There is a 650 Ti 2Gb too that gets good reviews - you may want to compare prices. 2. You need something like a 650 Watt PSU. Decent makes - OCZ / Corsair / Seasonic / Thermaltake 3. Your CPU will decide which m/board you get. You have to decide between Intel and AMD. You will never get replies on any forum to agree on this one. There is very little to split them. Once you have decided on the CPU then Vr5Fx can probably advise further :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Vr5fx Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Hi Jack, I agree with what Ken has mentioned. The fight between AMD and Intel is up to you, though personally, AMD will do you just fine. I will put together a list for you when I get the chance, hopefully by Sunday. I have some long hours the next few days. Do you require a whole setup? Including monitor and other peripherals? -Vr Quote AMD FX 6100 @ 3.9Ghz / Asus M5A99X EVO 990X / G-Skill 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz RipjawsX / Zotac GeForce GTX 660 Ti / Corsair TX 750W V2 PSU / Antec Kuhler 620 / Win7 64 / NZXT Tempest 410 Elite / NZXT 6 channel fan controller / Kingston 240GB HyperX 3K SSD / 1TB HDD Intel Pentium G2020 2.90GHz / Gigabyte GA-Z77N-WIFI / Kingston 4GB DDR3 1600MHz HyperX Genesis / Corsair 430W CXM / Fractal Design Node 304 Mini ITX Case / 2TB WD Greenhttp://steamsignature.com/status/default/76561197986113115.png
Guitarman Posted August 2, 2013 Author Posted August 2, 2013 Thank you guys so much and thanks for all the advice and thanks Vr that would be awesome if you could do that :) I would like your advice on a monitor as I'm not to sure what's best and mouse and keyboard recommendations would be nice as well but I'll buy them later down the line as I already have a spare mouse and keyboard which will do for now... I also need a wireless adapter as my router is downstairs.. Thank you both and there's no rush if your busy Vr but it would be great if you could do that for me.. Thanks again, Jack :D Quote
Vr5fx Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Hi, Jack. I have put together a list of parts for a reasonable gaming PC. I have annihilated your budget, though come the time when you do buy the parts some will be cheaper. This list is just a reference, it's not set in stone. Come the time when you have the money to buy parts, I would be more than happy to put a new list together. http://www.ebuyer.com/lists/list/215635 Take a good look at the list. If you have any questions about any of the parts, even to why I picked them, I will be happy to try and answer them. The only game that won't run on max settings will be BF4, you'll need a £400-£500 graphics card for that. It should do medium and some highs though. Let me know what you think. -Vr Quote AMD FX 6100 @ 3.9Ghz / Asus M5A99X EVO 990X / G-Skill 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz RipjawsX / Zotac GeForce GTX 660 Ti / Corsair TX 750W V2 PSU / Antec Kuhler 620 / Win7 64 / NZXT Tempest 410 Elite / NZXT 6 channel fan controller / Kingston 240GB HyperX 3K SSD / 1TB HDD Intel Pentium G2020 2.90GHz / Gigabyte GA-Z77N-WIFI / Kingston 4GB DDR3 1600MHz HyperX Genesis / Corsair 430W CXM / Fractal Design Node 304 Mini ITX Case / 2TB WD Greenhttp://steamsignature.com/status/default/76561197986113115.png
Guitarman Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 Thats perfect Vr the budget was without the monitor so that fits perfectly :) And no problem about BF4 I know I would need to spend a lot more for that! The build is perfect! would it be worth while me spending a little more on the processor and getting this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-FX8350-Edition-Processor-4-2GHz/dp/B009O7YUF6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375288516&sr=8-1&keywords=AMD+fx+8350#productDetails Love the build you have suggested thou as I really wanted the gtx 660 ti :) Thank you so much that builld is awesome :) I can't thank you enough! KenB Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 I thought for a minute that the PSU had been missed off the list then noticed it was bundled with the case :) Nice one Vr5fx. Guitarman Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 One other question Vr would I be better off with this graphics card? http://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-660Ti-GDDR5-Graphics-Card/dp/B008YINJK8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1375267431&sr=8-2&keywords=gtx+660+ti I just wondered and am not familiar with Zotac so what advantages does it have? Sorry for questioning you as I know your the expert but I was just wondering what the differences are? Thanks, Jack Quote

Spending the extra on the processor is completely up to you. If you are feeling rich at the time, it might be worth the investment. But keep in mind, I don't know of any game that requires more than 4 cores to run. However, I think there are programs that would force games to utilize them. One other question Vr would I be better off with this graphics card? http://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-660Ti-GDDR5-Graphics-Card/dp/B008YINJK8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1375267431&sr=8-2&keywords=gtx+660+ti I just wondered and am not familiar with Zotac so what advantages does it have? Sorry for questioning you as I know your the expert but I was just wondering what the differences are? Thanks, Jack They are pretty similar. The Zotac is what I run, which is why I used it as reference. Again, this one is up to you. I thought for a minute that the PSU had been missed off the list then noticed it was bundled with the case :) Nice one Vr5fx. Left out a hard drive though. For a new build a new hard drive would be recommended. Keeps everything running smooth. Guitarman Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 I think if I can by Christmas I will get the 8 core processor just so I have that extra bit of power! I'll see at the time as prices may have also changed... I think I will go with the Zotac as you suggested as I don't really know too much about the EVGA cards and I'd rather get something that you recommended anyway :) and no problem I realized that and I already have one in mind... It's not great but its a 500GB Western Caviar Blue, I was told it was quite fast and pretty reliable but the plan is to get a external Hard Drive so I can share between my computers and save all my audio files and everything to it so I never lose them :) Quote
