BreatGritain Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Evening all, I'm wondering if anyone knows how the devil I could get hold of an Acer OEM Windows XP Pro install disk. I have an Acerpower desktop PC with a COA on the case, but hard-drive failure struck and no recovery disks were made. Acer apparantly no longer provide these disks as they have dropped support for XP. Any ideas? Thanks, Tom Quote
KenB Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Hi Tom I am fairly certain that any XP Pro disk would be OK ........ as long as you use the Product Code off your own sticker. So - if you can borrow an XP Pro disk give it a go. Remember that XP is using SP3. If you manage to get a version of XP Pro with an earlier SP version you would need to update. I would do this first before you start looking for drivers etc. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! BreatGritain Posted July 15, 2013 Author Posted July 15, 2013 Hi Ken, I always assumed that this would never work! I have an old unbranded xp disk, shoved it in, it installed with the COA no issues, validated online afterwards fine. I ran the WGA tool just to be sure, no issues. Two drivers were needed, Windows update sorted out the audio itself, and video drivers were available on the Acer support site. Sorted! Thanks for your help :) Quote
