Hi everyone.... I have a HP G60 laptop and in Jan this year I had to replace the m/board.. everything fine till yesterday then my HDD went.. I can get a HDD very easy but my prob is I only have the recovery discs for the original HP G60 and they wont work now with the replacement m/board I have now... (which is now a Compaq Presario G70)..so my prob now is how can I get hold of recovery discs or is there another way I could work this out ... many thx ppl in advance ... dugg88

Hi dugg,

When the motherboard was replaced, did you have to do anything then to make Windows Vista run with the new board?

If you didn't, then the system recovery disks should re-install on the new hard drive I would think.

I think you may well be correct - if the motherboard is different from the original.

OEM installations are tied to the motherboard.

Was it a like for like replacement?

 

How did you manage to get the Vista OS to run once you replaced the motherboard ?

As Nev says - if it was simply a case of replacing the m/board then switching on ........ your recovery disks should work.

 

Just a thought ..

You do have the CDROM set as the first Boot Device in the BIOS ?

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
