Plastic Nev Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Hi and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help. This could be one of several things, though it sounds a lot like the power supply has gone. They can be tested, though the best way is substituting it with another known to be good power supply. The power supply is I think the first thing to be looked at. Can you borrow one from a working computer and are you happy with working inside the computer? Nev. KenB Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Hi and welcome from me too :) This could be the PSU as Nev has suggested. I have also had one recently that showed the same symptoms as you describe ............. it turned out to be one of the RAM modules at fault. Try taking the RAM out - give the connections a clean with a pencil eraser - then put just one back. Try booting from this. If the situation is the same - swap the other module and try this one. In other words - try the RAM one at a time. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Hi, it isn't the power supply because the the computer lights up and appears to start but with windows 7 there is a beep as you switch it on and i am not getting any beep ...the blue light on the the computer tower stays on but nothing appears on the screen...having said that i did after many times of switching the computer on i did manage to get it to work, but after a few hours i got a lot of tiny marks running across the screen and a loud beeping noise needless to say i switched it off and have not been able to get my computer running again... KenB Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 I suggested removing the RAM etc ..................did you try this ? Also - just because the "computer lights up and the blue light stays on " does not mean that the PSU is OK.
