Plastic Nev Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Hi and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help Ken. As it may be of help later, can you tell us first what the make and model of your computer is please? Till we know that, click on "Start", then in the search box type, "Device Manager", it should appear at the top of the list, click to open it. Once the window opens, look down the list for "Sound, video, and games controllers", click the arrow next to it on the left to expand it, and can you let us know if there are any red or yellow marks next to anything please. kennc Posted October 2, 2013 Author Posted October 2, 2013 Hi Again The PC is a Packard Bell IMedia S1800, with Windows 7 Home Premium I have checked the device manager and there are no coloured marks there, everything looks normal to me, but I am not an expert. I did look in here yesterday just in case I had picked up an infection somewhere along the line but there is nothing obvious anywhere. Quote
Plastic Nev Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Hi, device manager can't show if a virus is present, it can only show if a device isn't working correctly. If there are no red or yellow marks, usually a question mark or exclamation mark, we can only assume for the moment they are working. If this problem only started recently, have you looked at trying a system restore back to a time when it was working OK? Try that first and let us know. Nev. Starbuck Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Have you installed any new software lately? From a quick search i see that lots of people that installed Dragon Naturally Speaking have had this problem. Quote Member of:UNITE
