Turn off ssid on netgear router

I have added wife's android cell phone mac & ip to access list on router but when I turn off ssid broadcast I loose signal.How to stay connected without broadcasting ssid to whole neighborhood?

I don't see the link between adding a Mac Address and the SSID ??

If you are Mac Address filtering and have a security password your network is secure.

I can see all of my neighbours' SSIDs but I cannot access their networks.

 

Is there a specific reason why you wish to turn this off ?

 

As stated - I cannot think why you drop the connection when SSID is not broadcasting.

If you really want it disabled I will look further into this :)
