Have an issue with Windows Explorer Alternatives (Double Commander, 2xEplorer & FreeCommander)

getting the Right Mouse Options to appear after highlighting a file & clicking, can take about

10 Seconds on average for options to appear, if at all as it seems to time out.

Also when opening a file, double clicking say, an Mp3 or Pic File it to can take about 10 seconds

to open, if at all.

Folders & Exe Files cause no issues & options are instantly available as normal with them.

The problems occour when trying to open Mp3,Text & Picture Files.I have a couple of programs

on Right Mouse options to edit or delete files etc.

The kicker is that when I use Windows Explorer all things work fine, no issues. I can

use this at the moment to do work but miss the other programs advantages & am having

to switch between them.

I Have loadsa a space on my drive & plenty of Ram.I Defrag Regularly & run Various Malware

programs to check files.Anti Virus is up to date etc.

Can anyone help with this unusual problem??

Hi,

This is certainly not something I am familiar with, however I see you have asked the same question on BC, here :-

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/511907/windows-explorer-alternatives-issues-problems-opening-files-in-them/

As yet no answer there either and Double commander being a little obscure maybe will not do so.

There is however a forum for users of that alternative, you may find better luck there perhaps, the forum is here :-

http://doublecmd.sourceforge.net/forum/

No harm coming back here to look though as someone else may have experience of it and be able to advise.

Thanks Plastic Nev for your suggestions.

I have gone through a lot of the program forums the last few days to see if I could find an answer to the issue, & yes I am a member of quite a few online PC help forums as I find them great for tips & problem solving, you guys do a great job.

I must say this is quite an annoying issue, seeing that the standard Windows Explorer works fine hmmmm!

Again Thanks

SORTED!!!!

I have found out what the issue is, As I Run Zonealarm Free on this computer I have just noticed that the free Anti-Virus package that comes with it was

activating itself & this was causing the issue in the Windows Explorer Alternatives ONLY!!

So sorted hopefully. Thanks to Plastic Nev for taking a look.

Thanks for getting back and letting us know, we always appreciate it as it can sometimes help someone else.

If keeping Zone alarm and have also another antivirus as well, do make sure that one antivirus only is running as this sort of conflict is likely to happen when two antivirus programs are running at the same time.

You should never run two at once as they conflict with each other, quite often meaning there is no protection while they are in conflict.
