bj43cj47 Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Hello all. I've done a forum search to see if this has been raised before, but alas no, so here's the question. My internet went down for a short while on Monday & upon checking the router all the indicators were lit except the "Ethernet" So I figured that might be the problem, as the message I was getting on the "fix problems" page was "You are not connected to the internet" etc. So I switched the router off & back on after a few minutes, but it stayed unlit. Shortly after that though the system came back online? So the question is, what's the Ethernet? Cheers BeeJay Quote
KenB Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Hi Beejay The "ethernet" that the router refers to is the connection by cable from your pc to the router then to the phone socket. There are usually 4 ethernet sockets on the back of the router. ( sometimes called an RJ45 socket / cable ) The ethernet option is usually the most reliable way of connecting to the internet. bj43cj47 Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 Yeah those were the connections on my old tower system. I'm now on a laptop & all 4 sockets on the router are vacant, just the 'phone & power are now coupled up. With the PC going down I thought it might have been the Ethernet was the problem. Thanks for that. Quote
