Guitarman Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 I need to order by processor and motherboard really soon and I'm stuck between: i5 4670K and a Asus Maximus VI Hero http://www.ebuyer.com/517542-asus-maximus-vi-hero-z87-socket-1150-hdmi-atx-motherboard-maximus-vi-hero and an FX 8350 with a Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z motherboard http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crosshair-Formula-Z-Motherboard-PCI-Express-SupremeFX/dp/B008RPZ3RA/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1383415016&sr=1-1&keywords=asus+crosshair Can someone please make the decision for me! i5 performs better now but is the future more cores and higher clock speeds required?? Thanks so much for your help in advanced! I know it's sad but it's really stressing me out :D Quote
KenB Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Hi Guitarman, Oh dear ...... we are back to AMD vs Intel again :) From what I have read - there is not much to choose between the two CPUs that you quote. The i5 is faster. The FX8350 is cheaper. I found this comparison click here Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Guitarman Posted November 3, 2013 Author Posted November 3, 2013 Thanks Ken knew I could count on you to help me out! I've decided after much much research to go with the fx8350 as I like AMD motherboards better due to the bountiful amount of USB ports which is important to me because of my music equipment. Another factor in the choice being that PS4 and XBOX One both have eight cores and as most games will be console ports I think it will start to pull ahead of the i5... Maybe... I also don't need an inbuilt GPU as I actually already have a EVGA GTX760 SC and some reviews have seen the 8350 stand up to i7's with only minor frame rate difference! How true they are I dont know but I'll just have to find out... For me more cores will make pro tools and programs such as that run better too so the FX is the one for me Sorry any Intel fanboys on the forum! ;) Quote
KenB Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Hi again I don't think you will be disappointed with AMD - and you seem to have been very constructive and analytical in your decision. Let us know how the build goes. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test
